Pilates | Reformer Pilates

1:1 or 1:2 Sessions

What is Pilates?

Pilates is a low-impact exercise method that strengthens the core, improves posture, and enhances flexibility and mobility. Developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century, it was originally called Contrology and is based on five key principles: breathing, concentration, centering, precision, and flowing movement.

In addition to mat-based Pilates, Joseph Pilates designed specialized equipment to support and challenge the body using spring resistance. One of the most popular pieces of equipment today is the Pilates Reformer.

Who is Pilates for? Pilates is suitable for all fitness levels, from complete beginners to experienced athletes. It has been shown to improve strength, flexibility, stamina, and mind-body connection, making it an excellent choice for those recovering from injury, managing chronic pain, or looking to enhance their overall fitness.

Mat Pilates vs. Reformer Pilates: What’s the Difference? PLEASE NOTE THAT THE REFORMER PILATES EQUIPMENT HAS BEEN DELAYED IN BEING DELIVERED BY THE MANUFACTURER - ETA -MAY 2025)

Both Mat Pilates and Reformer Pilates follow the same principles, but they differ in resistance and movement control:

Mat Pilates – Uses body weight as resistance, working against gravity in an open kinetic chain, where your limbs move freely.

Reformer Pilates – Uses spring resistance to either assist or intensify movement, providing a closed kinetic chain, which supports the limbs and strengthens muscles while enhancing joint stability.

Which one is better? Both methods offer unique benefits. Reformer Pilates is particularly effective for rehabilitation, core strengthening, and posture improvement, while Mat Pilates builds body awareness and control. Many clients benefit from a combination of both.
