TRE® Workshop & Evening Meal

“Our social engagement system allows us to feel connected to ourselves, others, and the world around us”

~ Stephen Porges, Author of Polyvagal Theory

We are social creatures, interconnected beings.  When we communicate, talk, care for one another. When we share stories, develop friendships, sing, dance or share a meal. When our body feels healthy, functional. When we feel safe.

Did you know we have an incredible Social Engagement system? When switched on, we have the capacity to experience feelings of love, friendship, pleasure, joy, compassion.

The more we engage with – and return to – this physiological state feeling safe and social, the more we can live fuller, more enriched and straight up happier lives! In tandem with social connection, physical changes include a calmer heart rate, steadier breathing, relaxed digestion, and a reduction in stress hormones.

Win win?

We invite you to join us for an evening exploring a nervous system regulation practice called TRE, followed by sharing a meal together.

What is TRE®?

TRE stands for Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises and was created by Dr David Berceli. The process includes a set of 7 exercises for grounding and feeling the body which gently lead us into activating this internal shaking reflex in a safe and controlled way.

All mammals have a primal impulse to shake after a stressful situation. This is because shaking or tremoring is a natural way to release tension and stress from the body. However, us humans have been socially conditioned to try and stop or tense against shaking; misunderstanding that our bodies are supporting us to regulate our nervous system and come back into a state of balance.

What happens in the workshop?

A workshop is a great way to be introduced to TRE and have an experience of the process. Chandani will give an introductory talk on TRE before guiding you through the practical exercises and a safe space to explore your body shaking. You'll be shown how to safely start and stop tremors as well as different ways to support yourself and stay present and embodied during your process. We'll end with a cosy integration period (the TRE world's savasana!) and time for sharing and questions.

Why try TRE?

- Allows the body to release old stuck defence strategies and turn down ‘over-protective’ reflexes

- Activates the vagus nerve and regulates the nervous system

- Reduces tension from within the muscles and fascia

- Promotes feelings of safety, connection and groundedness

- Improves mood, sleep, digestion, pain, and emotional regulation and relationships!

- It’s easy to learn and begin a home-practice for yourself

5:30-7pm TRE® Workshop

Who's teaching?

Chandani Amin is a Bodyworker based in East London who has a deeply nourished belief in the self-healing powers of our amazing bodies. She is a Certified TRE Provider, Reflexologist and Reiki Master. Her group TRE classes are an open, non-judgmental space to explore and nurture yourself as well as develop a practical understanding of your body's innate intelligence that you can take home with you! Since we are working with trauma and sensitivity here, feel free to get in touch with Chandani at statesofhealing@gmail.com if you have any questions or would like to discuss your individual circumstances before attending a group class. In some circumstances it's recommended to begin in private sessions.
